album update

controlsI spent most of yesterday recording. I’m forcing myself to finish several songs that have been complete for a long time before I can work on new material.  Yesterday it was a track called “twilight” that I wrote back in the Rosewater Faire days (2-3 years ago).  The only version of this song that I have is a live soundboard recording from 2/3 years ago that my dad made when he came to hear us play one time.  I got acoustic guitar and some electric bass tracked.  I’ll probably track vocals next, then drums, then upright bass, & electric guitar.  Anyway here are the lyrics:

“we fall like pianos from the sky
into this life eyes opened wide
there’s than the monochrome year to year
there are colors to be had in our hopes and fears
get past the sound of the buzzing drone,
past the hum, can you hear the tones…

for now we burn bright
but soon will come the twilight.”

“Do you want to come Home?” and “Roundabout” are two other songs from the Rosewater Faire material that I’ll probably record next.   I wrote “Roundabout” in ‘05.  “DYWTCH” was a bit of RWF collective effort.  Stephen Motte came to me with a melody and chord progression one night.  I worked out an arrangement and vocal harmonies, then the next day he and I sussed out some lyrics.  Later on Becky Phipps wrote a verse.  Here is an old demo of it that I arranged before RWF was performing it live.
