Where do I begin?
I’m in New York recording on my good friend, Donnie Mortimer’s, 1st album. We’ve been recording in Duncan Sheik’s house in the mountains of New York. Donnie hired me (guitar), Jason Harris (bass), Shawn Higgins (drums) Tres Altman (guitar) to come play on his album. Gerry Leonard (guitarist for David Bowie, Rufus Wainwright, Vanessa Carlton, etc…) is producing the record & Michael Tudor (Moby, The Strokes, Duncan Sheik, Rufus Wainwright, Taj Mahal, Ryan Adams, etc..) is the recording engineer.
We’ve been getting up around 10 AM most mornings. We get to rehearsing by around 2. We’ve been breaking for meals, but we haven’t been finishing working until about 1 AM the past 4 nights. Donnie’s provided a great pool of songs for us to arrange. He’s been working for several years writing great tunes. Today (Day 5) we showed 4 tunes to Gerry and he helped us fine tune them making them even better. Tomorrow we will start recording. “Mama” (Michael the engineer) has been wiring up the house with mics for tomorrow. It’s going to be a great record!
